I read that most of the people living in NYC never actually visit the statue of liberty, or other landmarks in the city.
Well, for the last 8 years I've lived in a town with real 14th century medieval castle in it (heavily renovated of course) and for the last 4 years my apartment has been within kilometer's distance from it. Hell, if it wasn't for the trees, I literally could see it from my window. I see the castle every single day when I walk past by it. Yet, I've still never visited it inside
There's also medieval fair next to it every august, but apart from walking quickly through it every year on the opening day before any of the activities actually start, I never take part in that either. Or even buy any of the products from the little shops. Which is a shame as I love the middle ages... But doing that stuff alone, I'm too shy for it. Just like with most activities
