With JW, didn't we get the title almost two years before release? But then again, the movie was delayed from 2014 to 2015, so... But shouldn't we be getting the title for JW2 at least by Comic-Con in July?

Jurassic Park has rarely had that much presence at Comic Con (never forget the Universal Kong: Skull Island blunder), but I definitely agree that then and there would be a good time to announce the title, more so considering it would be less than a year before the film would be released.

I think they'll delay this thing until the trailer. Hope I'm wrong.

Title in June/July is my prediction. TLJ title was announced 11 months before release so I'd say Jurassic will be around the similar mark.

The title? That would be a bit extreme, trailer probably comes out around November. But who knows with JP. Nothing is normal in JP land Laughing

It would be funny if they waited till November or whatever and all it ended up being was either Jurassic Park 5 or Jurassic World 2.

Laughing

That would be hilarious. After announcing they will reveal the title in November shortly before the first trailer and fan speculation going wild in the days leading up to it, the title finally is revealed on the official webpage: JURASSIC WORLD 2 Laughing

JW made Star Wars numbers at the Box Office, I think Universal knows it's still one of their most important franchises, we won't see another King Kong blunder anymore. At that time I believe they really thought Kong was a bigger franchise and money maker than JP.

We'll definitely get a title by SDCC and we may even get a teaser, I'm guessing nothing big and maybe with no real footage, like teasers used to be back in the day but at least something.

I have no clue when Comic Con is this year, but I'm going to say it will be released sometime this summer or early fall.

I wish they had panel at SDCC, but obviously they won't.

Speaking of panels, why are there never JP reunion panels? There's like 200 for Star Trek and other genre franchises every year, but never for JP.

true. But Im like the one person in this fandom who seems to consistently get into Hall H panels at comic con year after year.

But that doesnt matter because once its announced, it will likely be shown on twitter at the same time

Wasn't there speculation that the title would be Jurassic World: Epoch? I hope there's a title soon. I'm tired of calling it Jurassic World 2.

Well nobody knows if thats confirmed yet. Anyway the title being confirmed on June 22, 2017 is another 'plausible' choice for backup

If it's announced later than June of this year, then I'll start to get worried and frustrated. Secrecy is one thing, but holding the title back longer than necessary would just be poor planning on the studio's part. Maybe they're still going back and forth on what the title is, perhaps "Epoch" was a subtitle for the sequel but if I'm being honest, with its differing pronunciations in Britain and America and one of them sounding like "epic", adding a word that sounds like a homophone for "epic" would probably make the title sound silly to some.

Well yeah obviously I get that with fans not knowing the title after the year mark to go has passed. I do still think title=plot is the thing we are getting.

I disagree. If JP was really as important to them as you claim, then why aren't we seeing stuff like an animated TV show that takes place between the old trilogy and this one via Star Wars: Rebels by now? There is just so much untapped potential that Universal has at it's disposal and it's just doing nothing about it. Say what you what about Disney and Star Wars, but at least they are taking advantage of a lot of potential via the time gaps between the prequel trilogy and the original one.

And at that time, that wasn't a bad mindset considering how the fan reaction to JP3 was so overwhelmingly negative and that of the GA was 'meh' and how Peter Jackson's version got so much praise.

I think the next thirteen months will be very instrumental in how Universal demonstrates how much it values the Jurassic franchise. They are preparing to launch merchandise in celebration of the first film's 25th anniversary. One film that's a smash hit at the box office could be written off as a fluke, but you bet they will at the least line up all their ducks in a row so that phenomenal performance is repeated again. That should be enough to convince them that Jurassic the real golden goose in their franchise catalogue. The "Dark Universe" Monsters franchise is an untested variable for now, Fast & Furious is a much less less interesting (and less obnoxious) Transformers, and Illumination is animation's equivalent of junk food.

I know what I said about wanting to see a maturely written animated series put into motion, but Disney's monopoly on animation is naturally the biggest in the business. And the Universe of Star Wars is massive, with a fan base to match in professional and amateur fields. Maybe I'm missing something, but I don't know if Universal has a TV animation division anymore. I remember there was a Land Before Time animated series, but that's a far cry from what I would want a JP animated series to be. Maybe if Universal taps DreamWorks for their TV animation, in firm collaboration with Amblin Entertainment, then there might be something there. For another parallel, Warner Bros' debut of Batman: The Animated Series was in 1992, three years after the 1989 movie.

Don't crucify me, but regardless of how good or bad the products ultimately end up being, I actually want both JP5 and JP6 to do very mediocre at the box office. Not embarassingly horribly, but not particularly well either - just somewhere in the middle. Because the last thing I want is this franchise going on forever, especially when it's already on overtime and the creativity is running low. It really should stop at the sixth film with definite end. And that's not going to happen it they strike gold financially again.

What makes you think a change in ownership won't change things? Surely you've seen my one anti-Universal post in the TV thread and the other one in the General Movie thread Also, with Goldblum coming back, JW2/JP5 is ensured to make at least $1 billion so even if JW3/JP6 becomes JP3 2.0, at least you'll have one sequel that will make a lot of money. So that scenario won't happen.

Not only that, but considering how you still want the original 2 sequels to be canon, wouldn't it be for the best to have another studio ensure that rather then have Universal just half-heartedly accept them as so, which is what they are currently doing and what they may do so in the next two movies?

I never understand this kind of mindset. I mean, if you don't like long running franchises, fine. But some people want to see as much of their favorite franchises as possible. Isn't hoping that the films do badly so that future films are discouraged kinda selfish? Even if the franchise produces another 6 films that are all terrible, you don't have to watch them. Star Trek is still going, Star Wars is still going, Bond is still going and they all have unnecessary sequels and some poor ones, too, but I know plenty of people like them so they just don't bother me.

Not attacking you personally on this, I see lots of people saying the exact same thing everywhere from Facebook to YouTube. Just wanted to share my opinion on that.

@Six-Foot Turkey

Just curious, do you see my position of another studio getting the rights as selfish or as a legitimate position to take?
