So let me tell you a few stories:

Everything that leaks is Universal's fault. As soon as the movie started filming pictures of the Indoraptor surfaced because guess who put them in the wrong place? They don't take the necessary precautions to keep things locked.
-
-
During filming people could literally hear on Hawaii " Owen does this, Owen does that ... and Pachyrhinosaurus panicks". That's how we found out it was in the movie last year.
-
what happens to Indoraptor? Spoiled by security guards also during filming.
Submarine sequence? Same.
-
Bayona actually hand picked some of the more exotic dinosaurs for this movie so you can thank him for that. Everything else is Universal + Colin. Bayona wanted it more grounded and artsy, but Uni and Colin wanted bombastic.

Everything else (from toys to characters to scenes to dinos) is Universal.

On the spoiler itself: not too bothered. All we have confirmed are things we could see coming. When I went into JW, I knew everything that was going to happen, including Rexy living through the fight and Dilo as a hologram. That is the level of spoiler I’m trying to avoid, and for this movie I have thus far. In order to ensure that remain unspoiled, I’m going to stop looking at leaks.

On what it tells us:
Spoiler:

On the film’s management: I really am worried about the levels of excess that Universal is forcing here. James Cromwell said that Bayona has been fighting off executives left and right, and hopefully he’s won those fights or at least made compromises that lean in his favor. Universal is an incompetent company that helms lowest-common-denominator franchises such as The Purge and Fifty Shades. They are the same executives who forced the production of The Thing 2011 to use low-rent CGI in place of practical effects, a trend which has continued into JW (Trevorrow had to fight for the apatosaurus puppet) and probably has affected Fallen Kingdom already. I doubt Bayona had any choice other than making the stampede as spectacular as possible, and we can only hope that the final film is a more subdued and intelligent product. Jurassic World was dumb. Not dumb-dumb like JP3, but smart-dumb like The Avengers. Fallen Kingdom needs to be smart.

Edit: @Sobek, I really don’t think we should pin the blame on Trevorrow here. He has said in interviews that the ting of the soup ladle on the floor in JP is more riveting than a roar or an explosion. He’s just a nice guy who was easy to push around, and he seems aware that JW isn’t as smart as it could’ve been.

I'm loving all the spoilers. I'm a spoiler guy so, the more I get, the better.

Anyway, I'll be very honest with all you guys, Bayona, IMO, was the BEST choice for director. You can see the difference here.

If he's the one that fought Universal to put all those exotic dinos in, then he got all my respect. That's what I wanted Bayona, thanks. That's a true Jurassic movie.

It's funny. With all the leaks popping up (again, no pics here please), things basically look no different then they did a week ago.

Go figure.

I have to ask you a few things:

1. Does Universal even have a clue what to do with this franchise or do they simply care about how much money it makes?

2. Why don't they try and find a visionary? A Kevin Feige figure for this franchise, if you will?

3. Did they really think that they would succeed with pulling a fast one on us via saying that the JW Spino skeleton was that of the JP3 Spino?

4. Why is Jack Horner still involved with the franchise even though he's no longer considered a valid paleontologist by JP fans, dino nerds, and people who are both (which includes myself)?

I agree. Trevorrow didn't have much power via making JW since he was so new, so you really can't blame the bad parts of JW on him. It's also really sad that Universal cares more about the Fast and Furious franchise then with Jurassic World.

Colin Trevorrow is our Kevin Feige, for best or for worst. And of course they're scared of doing something really different. Look how it turned out for The Last Jedi! Not saying they're right following that route, tho.

And that Spino thing... It's just a social media person who wanted to say they're the same species but was misunderstooded.

Here's the problem: He's still too green/new. Because of that, Universal pushed him around via making JW. Not only that, but while he's a fan of the first JP movie, he might now be a fan of the franchise overall. The fact that he implied that the first 2 sequels might not be canon a month or so before JW came out and then walked back on that a few days later is proof.

We need somebody else and sorry, Spielberg is just too lazy to care to be that man as well. Just look at how he sat back and let JP3 get run into the ground. Same with the Transformers franchise after the first movie.

The other problem is we have a fandom that seems to have turned a 180 on leaks from 3 years ago. Back during plate gate, JPLegacy was CRUCIFIED for posting the indominus on a paper plate. Now....the opening and closing of this film are being leaked and shared pretty wide spread and nobody seems to give a shit.

in this day in age, leaks are just going to be more common. If there's enough interest and people dig deep enough then they will find it. I have friends that are big jp fans and are completely unaware of the stuff that we know on this site. me, on the other hand, know a lot cuz of all the fan pages that I look through. so its still possible to avoid spoilers if you avoid fan related content

A lot leaked during the making JP3 too. There were set pics and spoilers from the daily shooting schedule. There was a script review online, and pages of the script's actual opening, months before the movie came out. Pics of all the merchandise were online after toy fair in February. Someone posted pics from nearly every scene on a message board using a pirated copy the day before release. I think it's just part and parcel of the internet age we live in.

IMO Spielberg is our Kevin Feige, Trevorrow is more like Joss Wheadon or the Russo Bros. The problem is Spielberg isn't personally invested in Jurassic and he's constantly juggling other projects, with his directorial projects always coming first.

The Jaffa / Silver script for JW was really bad (according to some insiders). Really really bad. Colin rewrote it, but kept the parts Universal wanted. He still can be blamed by the writing and some of the decisions.

-
As for Jurassic World Fallen Kingdom truth is Universal will not allow something that is really different, hence why we are going to the island again. Originally this movie would be all about both Sorna and Nublar, but then they decided to add the manor to make things a little different (even though it's basically The Lost World all over again).

Yeah it was really obvious to me in the beginning that the option for the movie would be to say that they are taking the dinosaurs to Sorna. I assume they are still keeping this as the 'excuse' for the giant cargo ship Lackwood has right?

I wonder if Universal is the one who forced the twist with Lockwood then. scratch

Okay, so I'm currently watching at this topic as an outsider looking in and hearing bits and pieces of spoiler material without actually knowing just what it is that's making people feel anxious about the film's actual quality and whether we're putting all our eggs in Bayona's basket and that Trevorrow might be assisting with the potential over-the-top aspects of the film.

The thing that bugs me is that it feels like there are people far more willing to leak material from Jurassic World, either by bad studio management or an inside job, because it feels like there isn't this kind of rush to get content out there when it comes to the superhero and sci-fi franchises.

Personally, I hope we get a glimpse of Benjamin Lockwood and the mansion, and get more of a sense of Bayona's distinctive direction on the Isla Nublar scenes, with dense, fog laden jungles. I'm sure there will be some kind of money shot, like a re-use of Rexy roaring or a different shot of the stampede leading to the sheer cliffs. But it has to feel like there's more to the film than what the first trailer has indicated.

The final confrontation could be amazing if done right. I'm just wondering if they'll go as far as to have another Blue/Rex team up again. I really hope not, but it seems they're all for Pokemon battles now.

I think it's due to 3 factors:

1. Fans very excited to see the JP franchise back and are more then eager to share.

2. Old JP fans who don't like how the franchise was headed after TLW, which quite frankly is still the last JP movie Universal cared about, who are warning others not to be suckered in.

3. Lack of other competition from other dinosaur movies. Yes, you have Godzilla and the Godzillaverse, but Godzilla and his franchise have basically become semi-detached from the dinosaur movie gerne to the point where many/most people consider it to be it's own thing. Other then the stop-motion animation dinosaur movies, which sadly, many fans don't really care about or haven't seen yet, there are not many place for us to go.

Yes, more of the second half of the film, with the manor, the indoraptor, maybe the auction, and more of the supporting characters hopefully....though I wouldn't be surprised if they held off on a lot until the full trailer sometime in March. If I recall, we got our first bit of Masrani in the '15 superbowl ad, and Hoskins in the trailer the following month.

Personally, the manor seems like the only original idea in this thing, so I'm basically writing off the first half as TLW-lite.

I don't get the impression that Trevorrow or Connolly are particularly familiar with the books,  or else wd'e be getting more than slight references to them. It's like they read the cliff notes once or something.

It kind of reminds me of how JVR, the director of Kong: Skull Island and the tapped director of the soon to be made Metal Gear Solid movie, said he would force the screenwriters to play the game in order for them to get a feel. (I was never for an outright adaptation, unless it was a standalone movie that while straying from the source kept the basics intact a la the Burton/Keaton Batman movies. And if David Hayter, the voice of Solid Snake, who's also an accomplished screenwriter was writing the script.) And how Connolly was picked to write the script for that movie.

Connolly has always given me an iffy feeling in regards to his presence within the JW trilogy. It's one thing to have a fresh pair of eyes on a film's script or production, but there has to be a careful balance to strike. To use a Star Trek analogy, when Nicholas Meyer was brought on board to direct Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan he was unfamiliar with the show but he watched every episode and got immersed in the lore and characters and was able to translate that onto the big screen more successfully than Robert Wise did in Star Trek: The Motion Picture.

Twenty years later, a similar scenario occurs when Stuart Baird as the director of Star Trek Nemesis, who had zero experience with Star Trek: The Next Generation and even refused to watch any episodes of the show or properly consult with his cast regarding names and characterization... well the results were clear on the screen in my opinion. Right now, Connolly is reminding me more of Baird than Meyer, without actually being the man in charge.

I will say JP wise, its real interesting that the JP fandom chose to gravitate towards Mainframe rather then JO for it's forum. Unsure why or how that happened, but I'm glad you guys are all here.

And secondly. I'll choose my words carefully here. There has in the fandom grown a culture which rewards leaking in a way. Not that the rewards ever give these leakers any real 'fame' so to speak...but that this fame gets funneled towards certain people who have for better or worse get chosen to become the mouthpieces of the franchise.

Eh. Can happen with a small fandom that got big because a hollywood star was attached to the semi reboot of a massively anticipated fourth film that broke record by riding on the coat tails of nostalgia.

Third quarter, eh? I know the BTS video showed some action at the Manit, especially with the guy getting dragged behind the collection display. But that was reserved for more internet savvy audiences. I wonder if and how they can
a) show the suspenseful side and
b) show that the action moves off the island (so they’ll pay to see it)
without spoiling or telegraphing that Lockwood is a greedy old bastard who wants to auction off the dinosaurs. That’s gotta be tricky.
