I literally have no idea what Boss Baby is. I'm probably blessed

The only CGI-animations I've seen from this decade are Frozen and Toy Story 3. And I'm also half way through Gnomeo & Juliet, which sucks ass, but I have to finish it some day because it's one of the last Emily Blunt films on my list. I think there's also a sequel coming out, which is dreadful. Those kind of films are just the kind of lazy unimaginative garbage I despise when it comes to modern animation and family films.

I also still want to see Tangled and the subsequent short films, before I check if the new series on Disney Channel is worth watching

Doubt I'll see Frozen 2. But Toy Story 4, of course. As I've said before, somehow they haven't missed a beat yet, and every film has been great. Really hope the new one doesn't break the chain and become Kingdom of the Crystal Whatever of the series. Will be sad without Potato Head, but what can you do...

I would recommend the recent Disney and Pixar CGI animated films since they do have a consistent high bar of quality. Tangled is definitely the best of the bunch, and feels the most like the 90s Renaissance classics; Inside Out and Zootopia are particular standouts from the last two years. As far as DreamWorks goes, their output besides the Kung-Fu Panda and How to Train Your Dragon films is pretty much what you've already gathered from news like "Boss Baby 2", and since Illumination is the animation studio that brought us the Minions... I have no intention of giving them any of my money for their films.

Hmm.

What are some good animated stop motion films? I'm pretty sure these are the only ones I've seen through:

Nightmare Before Christmas (9/10)
Corpse Bride (7/10)
Frankenweenie (7/10)
Coraline (7/10)

Also in terms of Muppets movies, are there any good ones besides the Muppet Christmas Carol? That one I absolutely adore and watch every year, but besides that the only one I've seen was the 2011 reboot, or whatever it is... it was okay, but not what I'd call particularly enchanting. It was aimed more for little kids whereas the Charles Dickens adaptation had grown up feel.

I'd also recommend Wallace & Gromit, both the four television shorts and the full-length movie released by DreamWorks; The Curse of the Were-Rabbit. Basically, virtually anything from Aardman Animation is sure to be entertaining.

I adored Kubo & the Two Strings, also from Laika, and it's what I consider to be an overlooked classic. Seriously though, that film was basically ignored by the film-going audience, like a lot of good or great films in 2016. I still haven't seen Wes Anderson's Fantastic Mr Fox though. I still need to see Frankenweenie and Corpse Bride.

Oh yeah as kid I saw those original W&G TV specials on library VHS, but I'm pretty sure that was 20 years ago already as my memories are really vague. One of them was about going to the moon made of cheese right? I might revisit them at some point, as well as the newer feature film

Going back to Tangled, have you watched the new TV series yet?

I'm afraid not, not because it looked bad necessarily but I read a few reviews of it online from huge Tangled fans and they were pretty middling about it, so I'm not really in any urgency to watch it.

you're actually missing out quite a bit if you haven't watched some of the other CGI-animated films of recent years--Tangled, Wreck-It Ralph, and Zootopia are all VERY good. but there are also alot of stinkers, so if you want to watch the quality CG-movies and avoid the bad ones you'll want to do quite a bit of research

Here's the Friday Box Office stats for Friday according to Box Office Mojo.

1. Pirates Of The Caribbean: Just under $23.4 million

2. Baywatch: $5.730 million

3. Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol 2. : $5.322 million

4. Alien: Covenant: $3 million

Disney is going to dominate the weekend yet again, Baywatch is going to bomb, and Alien: Covenant is imploding.

I'm not a big fan of CGI, that's the reason why I only watch the (very carefully) selected ones. I don't think it's necessarily lazy form of art in comparison to traditional cartoon animation, I mean there's certainly style and effort in it, but there's something about it that bugs me. Still over 20 years after since these things started to come out, I don't like the way how they move the characters around, or how they interact with each other, you know? It's very hard for me to explain, at least in english. In traditional cartoon, or only-assisted-computer-animation this isn't a problem.

Also I don't like how they always just put on big name Hollywood or celebrity actors as voices. The magic of cartoon characters to me has always involved the best possible voice actors, with unique sounding voices, and this is still true in cartoon TV series where they don't go after big names (other than for possible guest starring roles), but rather people with actual talent. Special voices fit for specific characters. In films, most of these Hollywood names are there 100% because of the name, not talent. Some of them can do the job, but with most their voices ain't special, just mundane, because that's not why they are actors in the first place... it's kind of like when seeing porn stars trying to act Laughing

Finally, the glimpses I've seen of all these other CGI films... they try too hard with the comedy and slapstick. It becomes overload, even in something like Madagascar of which I've seen some.

Anyway. I might rewatch Bugs Life in coming days. Been a few years, great film. And much better than Antz lol

Not counting this Monday, it looks like Disney is going to dominate the Box Office weekend.

1. Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales: Just under $62.180 million

2. Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol. 2: Just under $19.9 million

3. Baywatch: $18.1 million

4. Alien: Covenant: $10.525 million

There was ever only one good thing that came out of Baywatch:

Son of the Beach!

Starring Jaime Bergman as B.J Cummings.
Roland Kickinger as Chip Rommel.
Leila Arcieri as Jamaica St. Croix.
Kim Oja as Kimberlee Clark.
Amy Weber as Porcelain Bidet.

With Lou Rosenthal as Spank the Monkey.
And introducing Timothy Stack as Notch Johnson.

Tonight's episode - You Only Come Once

And Alien: Covenant is just imploding. The Monday after last weekend, it lost it's first place spot to Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol. 2. From first to second to fourth. That's embarrassing. Other the upcoming Transformers movie, it looks like another bad year for Paramount.

Hey now! I'm a huge Sony fan. *wags finger.

But no seriously if Sony keeps operating at their arrogant state they may be the first movie studio to win the Darwin award. It is simply unfathomable to me that Sony can find these amazing people and studios to run the PlayStation division(also an entertainment division) but have a complete lack of self awareness of what is and isn't a good decision for a movie at nearly every turn.

I want all heads at Sony film to roll and have a complete reform while they can capitalize off Spider man for now. It just hurts me to know that SONY could be a great movie studio with the right people in charge.

Scott said it's because of how Japanese companies have a hand-off policy when it comes to foreign branches or something like that. Given how bad the American movie branch is doing and how the overall Sony boss is starting to take more notice, I wouldn't be surprised if Sony makes a big move concerning that branch. I see Sony's planned Spider-Man universe with the Venom movie and the Silver Sable/Black Cat movie as their last stand. If those movies bomb or make a profit yet still underperform, then it's game over.

Considering that Sony has the rights to Ghostbusters, my favorite franchise of all time, I really hope they don't go under, and can pull something off to bring it back in a better attempt than last time. And I say that as someone who liked the reboot, despite finding it far lower than the original films (or the video game, which if they don't do a CGI film in the future, I wish they'd do. The 2009 game, and not that top-down shooter trash they've tried and failed with twice now.)

Sony is now offering a ridiculous "clean version" of their films for families.

Movies like Step brothers are on the list but also movies like Spider-Man and goosebumps(how much more clean can those get?).

As if Sony could not get any stupider... do they think they can compete with Disney by making their raunchy adult movies family friendly??
